In order to stay compliant with NFPA 25 and most insurance company requirements a monthly churn test shall be conducted. A monthly churn test is vital in keeping your fire pump in proper running condition. A churn test is a no-flow pump test that is conducted to record the pump starting pressure, running pressure, suction pressure, discharge pressure, proper leakage from packing gland, & to check for pump overheating. During a churn test the pump shall run for a minimum of 10 minutes and check for correct rotation. Fire pump failure results from little or no water during the event of an actual fire. Regular maintenance is very important and required.
